WHAT YOU EATIN?

Today’s blog is a little off my usual path. I’m going to talk about nutrition. At our gyms we strive to be all about self defense and fitness. A big part of fitness is nutrition and we talk often to our gym members about the subject. Truth is, the vast majority of us will not die due to a violent attack but the vast majority of us are guaranteed to die from cancer or heart disease. I really think that if someone knew that they would be attacked by a knife welding psychopath in a year they would spend the year hitting every Krav Maga class that they could find, work on their cardio, get stronger and really prepare. In that same vein, most of us are guaranteed to get sick this year and most of us will die from cancer or heart disease in X number of years so why wouldn’t we do all we can to change that outcome as well?

Here is an eye opener. For at least one day write down everything that you eat. Not the food you eat but every ingredient that you eat. I’ll give you an example below of what my nephew had today for just breakfast and lunch compared to what I had today. Glimpse at it and then read on…

Do you notice that all ingredients in what I ate were actual food? Over 85% of what he ate isn’t anything you could go buy at a market. Now here is the question….If we both eat like this every day this year which one of us would you expect to get sick at least once? A more sobering question is if we both eat like this every day of our lives for the next several years, who would you expect to get cancer? Why are we eating like this?
